Ok, so. I told myself I was going to start blogging so here I go. Attempt number one. No better way than to start it off with this.
We are not that cool.
I’ve been thinking lately. We live in a big world. I mean its big and there is a lot that goes on in it. Just plain in and out there is a lot of stuff that goes on. From the very internals of how the earth works to the very externals of what we do in everyday life as humans. But lets take it a step further than that. We live in a huge, I mean, HUGE solar system. We have barely explored every little bit of our own solar system but we know its a crazy gigantor of a solar system. Lets take that yet another step further. Our Universe is ridiculous. So many millions of stars, planets, solar systems, its CRAZY. So why do we think we are so much bigger than we are sometimes. In comparison we are like smaller than dust compared to how incredibly HUGE our living space God has put us in is.
So why did God put that stuff out there? And why are we discovering these things now, you know in the past century or so with the Hubble telescope and stuff? Like back in the day people feared God in such an amazing way. They had a HUGE respect for who God was and his creation. But what about now a days? We know to much…atleast we think we do. We look at things TOO scientifically, we try to analyze everything with what we learn from school and science books and new age philosophers. We think we are bigger than every situation and every person we come across, but are we really that big of a deal? What if God timed the discovery of new planets, solar systems and such just right in the timeline of human history just to show us right now in our generation that we are not as big as we think we are? Now, alright, I know your thinkin…”Jon? What does space have to do with me? this is stupid” but think deep for a minute and come to the book of Job with me real fast.
If you take a make minute go read Job 38-42 its a lot but just take some time to do it.
Are you done?
So what did you think?
You didnt read it did you?
If you didn’t do it, please do it. If you did lets continue. How does that make you feel? The passage is SO long but God covers EVERYTHING. Its seems that God covers every little bit of creation and who He is but like Job, do you think we could we give him a straight answer?
Who we are and what we have done in comparison to who God is and what he has done is nothing in comparison. So maybe its time to stop one upping your friends. Maybe its time for us to kinda take a step back from the things we know. Maybe its time to stop thinking we got God all figured out. Because we dont.
My challange for you guys is to bring yourselves back to child like faith, bring yourselves back to a place where you don’t have to have it all figured out. God has our plans and a feature ready for us and let me tell you, its a good one. We just need to listen and stop thinking we are bigger than God and more in control. Give God a chance to give you a Job like experience, or maybe your in that situation now. Really seek God through this. Find him through your trials. Put your faith in him rather than yourself and modern knowledge. Because in reality, when it comes down to it, we are not in control, we are not that cool.
